About Me
My name is Caroline and I have always been passionate about helping and encouraging people. I wanted to be a nurse when I was little and could often be found carrying my doctor's kit and stethoscope around!
After a couple of different careers with children and young people, I began training as a counsellor and now I have lots of experience with adults, young adults and children. I have worked for three charities, Cruse, Let's Talk Well and Stop.Breathe.Think. and I started Guiding Lights over 6 years ago.
I share my life with my amazing family and 2 cats who are zany (family and cats!) We moved to North Devon as we came out of lockdown and enjoy the beaches and woodlands, skylarks and Exmoor ponies, as well as the welcoming community.
Why Guiding Lights?
I have always loved the idea of lighthouses, even imagining I lived in one when I was younger. Films like Pete's Dragon and Helen Reddy singing 'Candle on the Water' really touched my heart.
More recently, Sam Smith's song 'The Lighthouse Keeper' has been added to my playlist and I love singing along.
When I went to the tip of Cornwall recently, I did a lot of lighthouse spotting and these two in St Ives made me smile; I suspect at first glance you didn't spot the second one...
The light shining out over the water, in all kinds of weather and storms, steadfast, safe and non-judgemental, seems like a fantastic metaphor for how I want to be.
